" I wanted to tell you how significant our meeting had been to me in de-alienating the word ‘autism’ and re-setting my approach….
Your description of autism has helped me to understand his diagnosis a little and has alleviated my constant internal monologue.
I’ve also been applying your advice….it has also provided me with some really interesting insights into what makes him tick and what triggers his challenging behaviour.
After our conversation I feel much more aware of the need to tune into why he responds in certain ways and how I can help him. This is so much more respectful of who he is as a person and I’m so grateful that following our meeting I’ve been able to get back on track with being the sort of parent I want to be, rather than being paralysed by my lack of understanding.
For me, our meeting was absolutely invaluable and I’m grateful that no more time was lost to my being in that post diagnosis fog of worry and sadness, I guess.
I hope that other parents of pre-schoolers are able to access this sort of input at an early stage. …You were the first person I spoke to in all this who made me feel I could get back on my feet and get back to parenting my son. "

"I felt that Rachel went above and beyond in terms of being able to facilitate scheduling us in for an assessment and subsequent meetings, helping us out greatly in an already short time frame. Giving priority to the correct information being reported on, and being happy to take on board any further comments and information to do so. Rachel made me feel comfortable, and explained her findings or suggestions in a way that I could take them onboard without being overwhelmed. Communication was easy and reliable. I would definitely recommend Rachel to anyone seeking Education Psychology involvement."
